Sparking a huge emerging global trend, consumers are going nuts for new nut butter creations. Driven by the wellness trend and the huge surge of veganism, its rich source of plant-based protein and the growing awareness of the health benefits of tree nuts continues to power the nut butter boom.

It is a boom that is expected to see the global nut butter market reach USD 4 billion by 2024, and was foreseen by Petrow Food Group in 2018 with the opening of its £1.8 million nut butter processing facility at its Suffolk site.*

Petrow, the specialist ingredient company made its mark as a progressive investment led business with the nut butter line facility incorporating roasting, milling and packaging. Petrow has developed its production of pure nut butters from all tree nuts including almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios, macadamias, and walnuts. All are available in both conventional and organic formats from its peanut-free Haverhill site, for both brands and own label, and filled into retailer jars, tubs and sachets plus semi-bulk and bulk formats.

Investment in the burgeoning consumer nut butter obsession continues with Petrow’s experienced NPD and technical support teams supplying bespoke individual blends to specific recipes. Give the Chocolate Almond nut butter, or the Almond, Cinnamon & Ginger nut butter a go – what’s your favourite? Flavour innovation is critical for this sector with limited edition nut butters being the key for adding more consumers. Petrow stresses that more innovative nut butter NPD is ‘Coming soon’, but more significantly the facility will add in a new glass jar line with further major investment for a new natural peanut butter line at its Perivale site in North London.
